Memory Notes

Privacy Policy

The short version: your memories are yours. We use them only to run Memory Notes for you. We don’t sell your personal information, we don’t show ads, and we don’t track you across other companies’ apps or websites.

Last updated: October 19, 2026

Memory Notes is made by EmoDino LLC (“we”, “us”). This policy covers the Memory Notes app for iPhone and iPad, its servers, its MCP server for AI assistants, and this website. It explains what we collect, why, who processes it for us, and your choices.

Using Memory Notes without an account

You can use Memory Notes without signing in. Your memories, recordings and transcripts then stay on your device and we don’t receive any of them. Speech is turned into text on your device by Apple’s speech recognition. If you subscribe without signing in, our subscription provider receives an anonymous ID and your purchase details; see “Subscriptions and purchases” below.

What we collect when you sign in

Signing in lets you back up and sync memories across your devices, use Ask, and connect AI assistants. Then we process:

  • Your email address, to sign you in with a one-time code.
  • Account identifiers: the ID our sign-in provider gives you and our own internal ID, so your data stays separate from everyone else’s.
  • Your memories: the text you type, transcripts of your voice memories, your edits, and when each was made and changed.
  • Your voice recordings, so you can play them on your other devices and so we can make their transcripts more accurate.
  • Transcription details from your device, such as the language of each voice memory, which help us produce accurate transcripts.
  • Questions you ask in Ask. We send them to our AI service providers to answer them and don’t store them.
  • Usage counts: how many notes you’ve created and how many searches you’ve made in each calendar month (and during your free trial), plus a daily count of searches. These are numbers only, never the text of a note or question. We use them to apply your plan’s limits and a fair-use limit.
  • Your plan: when your free trial started, and your subscription’s status from RevenueCat (see “Subscriptions and purchases” below).
  • Access tokens and connections you create for AI assistants. We store a fingerprint (hash) of each token, never the token itself, plus its name, permissions and when it was last used.
  • Server logs: technical information about requests to our servers, such as the time, your IP address and your account ID. We use these to keep the service running, fix problems and investigate abuse.

We don’t collect your location, contacts, health data, or card or payment details.

How we use it

Only to provide Memory Notes to you: signing you in, storing and syncing your memories and recordings, running your free trial and subscription and their limits, transcribing your voice memories, answering your questions in Ask, letting the AI assistants you connect read or add memories, understanding how Memory Notes is used and fixing problems, preventing abuse, and replying when you contact us. We don’t use your memories for advertising, we don’t train AI models on them, and we don’t sell or rent your information to anyone.

Transcripts, Ask and AI service providers

  • Transcripts. When you’re signed in, a voice memory’s recording and transcript may be sent to our speech-to-text provider and AI service providers to make the transcript more accurate. The improved text replaces the original, unless you’ve already edited the memory.
  • Ask. When you ask a question, in the app or through a connected AI assistant, we send your question and the text of your memories to our AI service providers to find the relevant memories and write the answer. Ask doesn’t send your voice recordings.

These providers process the data on our behalf, only to provide these features. OpenAI and TypeSafe state that they don’t use data sent through their APIs to train their models. Providers may keep data for a limited time under their own terms, for example to prevent abuse and fix problems. Memories kept on your device without an account are never sent.

Subscriptions and purchases

Subscriptions are bought through Apple. Apple handles the payment, and we never see your card or billing details. We use RevenueCat to check your App Store purchases and keep your plan up to date. RevenueCat processes, on our behalf:

  • Your purchase and subscription status: which plan you have, when it started, renews or ends, and whether a renewal failed or was refunded.
  • An app user ID: a random anonymous ID before you sign in, then our internal account ID. Never your email address.
  • Apple’s receipt and transaction data for your purchases, such as the product, transaction IDs, purchase and expiry dates, price, currency and App Store country.

RevenueCat sends us updates about your subscription, which we store with your account so the app and our servers apply the right plan. Its own handling of this data is described in RevenueCat’s privacy policy. Apple’s handling of your payment is covered by Apple’s privacy policy.

Connected AI assistants (MCP)

If you connect an AI assistant such as Claude, ChatGPT or Cursor to Memory Notes, it can read your memories and, only if you allow it, add new ones. What the assistant then does with that data is covered by its own privacy policy. You can revoke access tokens in the app (Account → Connected apps). An assistant you connected by signing in to Memory Notes from the assistant itself is disconnected in that assistant’s connector settings, and loses access on its own after 30 days without use. See Connect AI agents.

Who processes data for us

These service providers process data for us, all in the United States.

ProviderWhat for
PrivyEmail sign-in
NeonDatabase for your account and memories
Amazon Web Services (S3)Storage for voice recordings and backups
VercelHosting for our servers and this website
RevenueCatSubscriptions and App Store purchases
OpenAIAI service provider for Ask and transcripts
TypeSafeAI service provider for Ask and transcripts
ElevenLabsSpeech-to-text provider for transcripts

Each processes data only on our instructions. We’d disclose information only if the law requires it or to protect someone’s safety, and we’d tell you unless we’re legally prevented from doing so.

How long we keep it

  • Memories and recordings: for as long as you have an account.
  • Deleted memories: when you delete a memory, its text is erased from our database as soon as your device syncs. We keep a small record that it was deleted (its ID and dates, no content) so your other devices remove it too. Its recording is erased from our storage shortly after.
  • Usage counts and subscription status: for as long as you have an account.
  • Your account: delete it in the app (Account, then Delete account) and we delete it right away: your memories and recordings, usage counts, subscription status, connected AI assistants and access tokens, and your sign-in with our login provider. The app also erases that account’s memories from the device you delete it on. Or email us from the address you sign in with and we’ll delete it within 30 days. Deleting your account doesn’t cancel an App Store subscription; cancel it in your Apple ID settings first. Records of subscription events (dates, product and price, no memory content) may be kept after that for accounting and to handle refunds.
  • Backups: our database provider and our backup storage keep encrypted copies for disaster recovery. Deleted data can remain in these backups for up to 90 days before it’s permanently removed.

Your choices and rights

  • Edit or delete any memory in the app at any time.
  • Use the app without signing in to keep everything on your device.
  • Revoke connected AI assistants at any time.
  • Cancel your subscription at any time in your Apple ID settings.
  • Delete your account in the app (Account, then Delete account), or by emailing us from the address you signed in with.
  • Ask us for a copy of your data, or ask a question about it.

Depending on where you live (for example California, the EU or the UK), you may have extra rights, such as to access, correct, delete or port your data, or to object to some processing. We honor these requests for everyone, wherever they live, and answer within 30 days.

Security

Data travels over encrypted connections (HTTPS). Recordings and the database are encrypted at rest by our providers, and every request is checked so you can only reach your own memories. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your data and will tell you promptly if a breach affects it.

Cookies, analytics and diagnostics

We may use privacy-respecting analytics and diagnostics tools, in the app and on this website, to understand how Memory Notes is used and to find and fix problems such as crashes. We set them up to leave out the content of your memories, recordings and questions. We don’t sell your personal information, and we don’t use it for third-party advertising. Our host, Vercel, keeps standard request logs (such as IP address and pages requested) to serve and protect this website. If we use cookies or similar technologies, we’ll describe them in this policy and offer you choices where the law requires.

Children

Memory Notes isn’t directed at children. You must be at least 13 to use it (see our terms), and we don’t knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you’re a parent or guardian and believe your child under 13 has given us personal information, email us at support@emodino.com. We’ll ask for reasonable information to confirm that you’re the child’s parent or guardian and to identify the account, such as a request sent from the email address the account uses. We may suspend the account while we check. Once we’ve verified the request, we’ll delete the child’s personal information. If we otherwise learn that we’ve collected personal information from a child under 13, we’ll take the same steps.

Changes

If we change this policy, we’ll update the date above. If a change is significant, we’ll tell you in the app before it takes effect.
